The Camp Allen family is spread across churches and communities all throughout central Texas, and the opportunity to gather and simply connect and break bread (or in this case, brisket) together is truly special. We look forward to this family gathering as we celebrate Camp Allen and honor our dear friends and Austin natives, Jane Stone and Don Walker.
We invite you to join us and take part in this fun, casual evening focused on fellowship and shining a light on Camp Allen’s transformative ministry. For questions, contact Erin Pendleton here.

Janie Stone and Don Walker share a deep passion for nurturing children's connection with God in the great outdoors. Janie is actively involved in the church community, having served on the vestry at Good Shepherd and the board of St. Anne's Guild. After starting her law firm in 2004, she obtained a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministry in 2008 from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest and has dedicated eight years of service on the Camp Allen board. Don, a retired attorney, spent his childhood summers at Texas summer camps and grew up at Christ Episcopal Church in Temple, serving as an altar boy and lay reader. He took the lead in backing the newly built Herpetology House for Camp Allen's Discovery Program, a facility that bears his family’s name. Currently serving as an usher and participating in men's bible studies at Good Shepherd, Don cherishes his connection to the church and to Camp Allen. Their continuing support of Camp Allen is in gratitude for the Leadership and staff of the camp and the remarkable stewardship they have shown for the camp’s resources.

camp allen history & starry Nights mission
Turning into the driveway of the serene, tree lined 1,100 acre Grimes County property, one might not guess the humble beginnings of Camp Allen... It all started with one innovative idea, two determined individuals, a handful of tents, and a sky full of stars. In the early 1900s, Rt. Rev. Clinton S. Quin shared a dream with Christ Church Cathedral member, Rosa Lum Allen: to create a place for young people of the Diocese of Texas to go deeper in their faith. Rosa then opened up her home on Galveston Bay in the summer of 1921 and hosted the first summer camp of the Episcopal Church. Camp Allen has since traversed over 150 miles and 100 years to reach where it is today. With a journey from 10 to 1,100 acres and 36 campers to 70,000 annual guests, the ministry remains the same. Camp Allen is known for being a place where lives are transformed by the gospel and leaders are made.
The challenge today is that many children from economically disadvantaged families and schools need financial assistance in order to be able to participate in our nationally known programs. The mission of Starry Nights is to bridge this gap by supporting the camp’s Scholarship Fund and programs which makes it possible for more children and youth to experience Camp Allen. Thank you for your support!
